THAME Town were cursing the rain after their Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League Division 2 West derby clash at Shipton-under-Wychwood was called off, with the visitors in sight of victory.
Replying to Thame’s total of 186, Shipton were struggling at 80-8 from 33 overs when the match was abandoned.
Put in to bat, Thame were given a good start as skipper Mike Higgs and James Nielsen put on 71 for the first wicket.
Once they were parted, Thame struggled against the left-arm spin of Shaun Miller, who captured 7-44 in a superb spell of 20.4 overs.
Only Vivat Jivrajani survived long, making 42 to help them recover from 127-7 to 186 all out in the 60th over.
Will Rooney destroyed the early Shipton reply, taking three wickets as the hosts slumped to 24-4.
Tim Senior offered resistance, but then Partik Patel nipped in with three cheap wickets to leave Shipton struggling, before rained called a halt at 6pm.
