A DEVASTATING spell of bowling by Aston Rowant skipper Wesley Morrick sent Division 2 West Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League hosts Harefield crashing to a meagre 39 all out on Saturday.

Morrick returned the amazing figures of 6-7 from 11 overs to secure his side’s convincing 152-run victory.

He was well supported by Glenn Carlton, who took 4-21 to help bowl Harefield out for the lowest score in the league since 2006.

The pair kept a stranglehold on the innings, which lasted only 21.5 overs, 12 of which were maidens.

Extras were the top score with 14, as no Harefield batsman was able to reach double-figures.

Earlier, Rowant, who had been inserted, declared on 191-6 in 59 overs.

The innings was built on scores of 49 from opener Chris Watling and 46 from Karl Penhale, who is better known as a bowler.

Penhale batted at No 3 in his first game of the season due to injury, and also marked it with a half-century.

Chris Eaton added a useful innings as Rowant’s batsmen comfortably deal with the former Zimbabwe seamer Mluleki Nkala.

The result lifts Rowant, who had made a poor start to the campaign, up to fourth spot, leaving Harefield in the bottom three.
