Banbury's Michael Meadows extended his lead in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship with two top-two finishes at Oulton Park.

After taking second place in round seven, he held off Jonas Gelzinis, whom he heads by 34 points in the title chase, he won the next race.

Standings (top ten): 1 M Meadows 157, 2 2 J Gelzinis 123, 3 S Tordoff 104, 4 D Lloyd 100, 5 B Barker 92, 6 R Butcher 90, 7 R Plant 84, 8 A Al Harthy 64, 9 G Geddie 56, 10 D Pierce 42.

Chiping Norton driver Fergus Walkinshaw, 21, notched up two eighth placed finishes in the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup at Oulton Park.

A faulty oil pressure sensor in the first race went from seventh to tenth, while the next race saw him get a drive-through penalty given for being misaligned on the grid, ending his bid for a top six-finish.

Now his sights are set on next weekend’s action at Croft.

“Luck hasn’t really been on my side,” he said. “So we’ll be doing all we can to ensure we get a trouble-free run.”

Fergus’s brother, Sean, competes in rounds six and seven of the Protyre Formula Renault BARC series in Thruxton tomorrow. He is 19th in the standings.
