City of Oxford’s Robert Youngs do Patrocinio won seven gold medals at the British Gas ASA South East Regional Championships in Crawley.

The 11-year-old touched home first in the 100m freestyle, the 200m freestyle, the 400m freestyle, the 1500m freestyle, the 200m individual medley, the 100m breaststroke and the 200m breaststroke. He also took bronze in the 400m individual medley.

City of Oxford won a total of 44 medals at the event.

Isobel Meikle, 12, won the 200m backstroke, the 800m freestyle, the 200m freestyle and the 400m individual medley and took silver in the 200m individual medley.

Chris Currie (male disability swimmer) took gold in the 400m freestyle and the 200m freestyle. He also won silver in the 50m backstroke.

Emily Nesbit won the 200m butterfly title and bronze in the 200m freestyle, the 400m freestyle, the 800m freestyle and 200m individual medley.

Ten-year-old Chiara de Vita struck gold in the 200m breaststroke, while Guy Giles, 17, won gold in the 200m freestyle and bronze in the 1500m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

Elizabeth Oliver, 15, won the 800m freestyle and Rosie Bancroft (female disability swimmer) struck gold in the 400m freestyle, while Emily Wood won silver in the 200m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke.

Jack Gosden-Kaye, 16, won silver in the 200m breaststroke, the 200m individual medley and 400m individual medley.

Lisa van Breugel (17+) was runner-up in the 400m free-style and 800m freestyle.

Jack Gosden-Kaye, Harry Basterfield, Isobel Meikle, Nesbit, Van Breugal, Youngs do Patrocinio, Currie and Bancroft achieved national qualifying times as did the girls youth 4x100m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle quartet of Lucy Smith, Emma Lomas, Oliver and Van Breugal.

Abingdon Vale’s Caitlin Wheatley, 14, struck gold in the 200m butterfly in 2mins 25.82secs, while her 12-year-old sister, Trudi, took the bronze in the same event in a time of 2.44.72.

Both girls broke Abingdon club records as did Oliver Hodgson (2), Emily Ford, David Murphy, Joseph Law, Murray Eccleston and Shannon Motha.
