Bobby Gosling defended has crown at Woodstock’s Henmans-sponsored Junior Open.

The 16-year-old, from the host club, upset Northampton’s Emerson Sekban – the top seed – 6-2, 6-0 to claim the under 18 crown, although the match was much closer than the scorline suggests.

John Balshaw, from Portcullis Tennis Club, won both the under 16 and under 14 boys titles, with Ben Charlesworth, from Abingdon’s White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre winning the under 12 competition.

Alice Atkins, also from Abingdon’s White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre, won the girls’ under 16 crown, with clubmate Jessica Lythgoe claiming the under 14 title.

Mixed Under 9: J Head (Berks) bt A Raven (Lower Windrush) 7-5, 7-4. Under 8: B Hornby (North Oxford) bt S Mutavdzic (Peppard) 10-5.

Virgin Active dropped their first point of the OLTA Wilson League campaign with a 2-2 draw against Oxford City – but still retain top spot in Ladies Division 1.

In Division 2, Portcullis of Wallingford stay top despite a draw against Thame. Banbury West End are hot on their heels in second place, unbeaten and having played a game less.

In Men’s Division 1, North Oxford thumped Banbury B and have not dropped a match all season.

Woodstock beat local rivals Witney 3-1 to go second.

Oxfordshire have named their squad for the 12 and under County Cup at Northampton on June 30 and July 1.

Annabelle Denly (Halton) and Lauren Keeler (White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre) qualified for the team through rankings, and joining them after securing their places through the play-offs are Evie Phillips and Raia Jagger, both from White Horse.

The play-offs to determine the boys teams are taking place this week.
