Oxford Utd 2, Ipswich Town 3
A goal on his first appearance from former Wimbledon midfielder Alex Tapp was in vain as Oxford United Reserves lost against Ipswich Reserves at Didcot Town's npower Loop Meadow Stadium last night.
Although United's second string are still looking for their first win in Pontin's Holidays Combination East Division, it was a much-improved display from the side that were humbled 9-0 in Suffolk last month.
Ipswich took the lead on 12 minutes through Darryl Knights who lobbed Chris Tardif in the United goal.
But United, who boasted ex-Ipswich player Gavin Johnson in the line-up, levelled five minutes later when Beechers capitalised on a mistake by Ed Upson, leaving Ipswich keeper Shane Supple with no chance.
The visitors regained the lead on the half hour mark, Dean Bowditch finishing well from just inside the penalty area.
After the break, Knights made it 3-1 with his second, before Tapp, who is on trial at United, clawed one back from 12 yards.
Tardif then made a super stop to deny Upson from 40 yards, as Ipswich finished strongly.
