IMRAN Faruq was crowned Waterstock club champion after holding off the challenge of Pat Hingley.

Imran, playing off three, shot rounds of 75 and 73 for a four-over-par total, while Hingley led after a 74, but fell behind with a 75.

A birdie on the 35th hole gave first-time champion Imran the edge, which he maintained on the last.

Gavin Hazledine was third on 151, but scooped the nett prize.

*HOME player Susan Neville edged out Frilford Heath's Fay Banks to claim the Oxfordshire ladies' Seniors Cup at Huntercombe.

Both players notched 36 stableford points, while Kit Lewis (Oxford Ladies) was a point adrift in third.

*MELANIE Mutch was named Burford's ladies' golfer of the year at their presentation supper.

Mutch earned the award after picking up in the most points in Burford competitions.

*THE Oxfordshire's Anthony and Dave Barrett finished 34th in the International Pairs UK final at Fairmont St Andrews with 61 stableford points.

*HOLDERS 'Studley Wood Sponsors' successfully defended their Five Star Team Event title at The Oxfordshire.

The team, led by Barry Yates, scored 173 points, one ahead of 'The Oxfordshire', who were captained by Tim Green.

'Studley Wood Presidents' were third with 'SODS', led by Cecil Jackson, in fourth.

The next event, also in aid of the charity See-Saw, is the Five Star Masters at Huntercombe on November 3.
