Willy Waite became the fourth player this season to hit a brace of sixes as his 16 dolls helped Bullnose Morris A to a 2-1 win at Rose Hill Club in Greene King Oxford & District League Section 3, writes ANDY BEAL.

Waite was on target with his first 15 dolls, missing with his 16th and 18th to end up with 6-6-4.

Rose Hill set the opening leg with 21, but anchor man Waite clanged off his first six to tie, before Bullnose won it on three sticks. Bullnose won the next 20-16, but lost the last 20-14.

Waite’s double six sees him follow in the footsteps of Ivor Clarke (Cricketers B), Kevin Giles (Three Pigeons) and John Bailey (Chequers A Quarry).

Darren Cox (5-4-4) whipped off 13 dolls as Team Monarch came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Original Swan A.

Craig Greenough (4-4-4) was top dog for the Swan with a dozen dolls.

In Premier/Section 1, Ken Maunder and Trevor Greenaway hit 4-6-3 for 13 dolls apiece, but it couldn’t prevent Garsington Sports Club A going down 3-0 at Cricketers Cowley. Jon Townsend (4-6-4) top-scored for the Cricketers with 14.

Wayne Townsend (5-5-5) hit 15 dolls in Red Lion A Kidlington’s 3-0 win at Red Lion Brill.

He was well supported by Paul Holt (5-5-4) with 14, while Ian Houghton (5-5-5) shone for the Brill side with 15.

Roger Goodall (3-6-5) knocked off 14 dolls, but it could not prevent Six Bells C Kidlington from losing 3-0 at home to Red Lion A Eynsham.

In Section 2, Neil Pratley (4-4-6) was another to deliver a 14-doll haul as he led Woodman Inn to a 2-1 home win against Cowley Workers.

Glyn Millard (5-5-4) continued the run of 14-doll marksmen in Fairview A’s 2-1 win at Donnington Social Club A in Section 4.

Veteran Tony Nicholls (6-4-4) showed there is no substitute for experience with 14 dolls in Six Bells A Kidlington’s 3-0 win at West Oxford Democrats Club.

In Section 5, Chequers B’s Liam Purcell failed to trouble the doll in his first throw, but then followed it up with a maximum six in his next during the 3-0 defeat at home to Queens Head B.

However, he quickly came back down to earth with a one in the final leg, which Queens Head won on three sticks.

Quarry Gate anchorman Pete Kennet sparkled in a 2-1 home win against Red Lion Wendlebury in Section 6.

Needing four to win the first leg, he whipped off five dolls.

In the next, he fell one short of the five for victory, and Red Lion won it on three sticks, before claiming the three needed to take the last leg with a stick to spare.
