BROTHERS Alistair and Jonny Brownlee crossed the line together to claim a joint victory at the Blenheim Triathlon.

The duo broke the tape with a time of 57mins 16secs to share the first prize.

The Great Britain Olympic hopefuls were the star names in a huge field, and were delighted to record victory.

Jonathan said: “We don’t usually cross the line together, but this is our one race in this country apart from the Olympics, so we decided to.

“We thought about it before the race, but did not know how it was going to go.”

It was Alistair’s first competitive race after the Achilles tendon injury that sidelined him for three months.

He said: “It’s good to be back racing. When you’ve had an injury you’re never quite sure how it’s going to respond.”

The pair finished more than two minutes ahead of third-placed Mark Buckingham.

Jodie Stimpson led an impressive field to claim victory in the women’s race in 1hr 6mins 12secs.

She said: “It’s an awesome race and is really special to me as all my friends and family get to come and watch.”
