MITCH Burton says confidence is the key to his sparkling kicking form for Henley Hawks.

The 21-year-old fly half has not missed a kick at goal for fourth consecutive games, which puts him right at the top of the National 2 stats.

And the former Bath player is targeting five in a row at Barking on Saturday.

Burton said: "I think it is just a confidence thing.

"I was injured for the first game of the season and when I came back I only kicked four out of six.

"I then went out and did a bit of practice on the Monday and it all went from there. Hopefully I can keep the run going.

"I didn't have to much trouble against Redruth, but it was a different matter in the wind and rain at Wharfedale the week before.

"I wanted to take one in the second half on Saturday from about 50 metres. I was quite confident about it, but it was the captain's decision to go for the corner."

Burton, a professional with Bath for two years before joining Henley, said: "I think I have only missed one kick out of my last 25.

"At the moment I don't think I'm going to miss. All my kicks on Saturday were going straight down the middle.

"I used to kick every day at Bath, but now I just practice on Mondays and for 15 to 20 minutes on Thursdays."

Burton said the team didn't click well enough against Redruth, but believes Henley have plenty of potential.

"With the players we've got, we should be top four by mid February.

"That was a little step back against Redruth, but we'll look to put it right at Barking this Saturday."
