OXFORD Hawks’ under 12 boys’ team qualified for the National Championship for the first time by winning the South Region finals at Teddington on Saturday.
Kiran Patel scored both goals as they beat Southgate 2-0 in the semi-finals.
Patel was again the hero in the final as they won 1-0 against against Guildford to extend their unbeaten run to 14 games, during which they have conceded just one goal.
Hawks now go on to the national finals at Cannock on Saturday, May 12.
Their team comprises Archie Spittles (goalkeeper), Tommy Dawes, Thomas Edmiston, Charlie Colebrooke, Ned Gordon, Kiran Patel, Freddie Sunderland, Jake Taylor, Harry Venables and Ed Wilkinson.
Hawks’ boys and girls teams qualified for the regional finals in every age group from under 10 to under 16. The under 14 girls were runners-up on goal difference in their regional final.
