Conor McDonagh and Albi Skendi notched doubles as Oxford City Nomads moved a step closer to the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division crown by thrashing second-placed Ardley United 7-1 in the top-of-the-table clash at Court Place Farm on Saturday.
The win extended their lead over Kevin Brock’s men to nine points.
Kameron Abassi headed Nomads in front on ten minutes, though Ardley should have pulled level minutes later, when Matt Brandish was clipped in the box.
But Scott Bridges put the resulting penalty wide of a post.
Skendi made it 2-0 on the half hour, with a fine solo effort, before Adam Morris hit No 3 on 45 minutes.
McDonagh made it 4-0 with a neat finish before Ryan Brooks cut the lead on 51 minutes when he forced home a corner.
However, McDonagh netted his second from 20 yards for a 5-1 lead a minute later, before Skendi sealed his brace.
Ardley’s humiliation was completed when a corner hit the back of a visiting defender before going in past keeper Joe White.
