Niamh McGuckin, Berinsfield ABC’s National Schoolgirl champion, tops the bill at the club’s dinner show at the Rover Sports & Social Club, Cowley, on Saturday, April 14.
McGuckin is set to box in front of her home supporters for the first time since outpointing Swindon’s Jordan O’Donoghue to capture the ABAE class 2 42kg title.
Chief coach Mel Corrigan knows McGuckin will be difficult to match so has five potential opponents lined up.
And it is a night where the club’s female contingent takes to the spotlight.
Coach Naomi Hill, 28, was thwarted as a teenager in her attempts to box competitively with several potential opponents pulling out late on.
But she hopes to put all that behind when she climbs through the ropes for her first bout on the Cowley card.
There are two pairs of brothers in action – Michael McDonagh, 12, and elder sibling, Mark, 15, are among the members of the club’s junior ranks due to be displaying their skills.
And welterweight Joe Fisher, 22, will have brother Kophie, 19, boxing in the lightweight division ahead of him in the same ring.
Middleweight Michael Lobb is scheduled to be among the other Berinsfield performers on the 15-bout bill.
Dinner tickets, priced at £40, plus a limited number of standing tickets at £12, are available from Corrigan on 01865 341348 or 07860 156950.
