OXFORD’S hopes of reaching the Premier League semi-final play-offs were dashed when they lost 4-1 in their final Group A game away to Nottingham.
With a place in the last four awaiting the winners, Emma Beddoes put the hosts into the lead with an 11-5, 11-4, 11-7 win over Oxford’s Victoria Bell.
But Andrew Birks came from behind to beat Mark Fuller 11-2, 10-12, 8-11, 11-7, 11-5 and bring Oxford level.
Lewis Walters saw off Oxford’s Ben Coleman 11-5, 11-7, 7-11, 11-6 to restore Nottingham’s lead.
And French international Renan Lavigne sealed the hosts’ victory with a gutsy 11-5, 9-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-5 victory over former British national champion Mark Cairns.
Eddie Charlton continued the Nottingham bandwagon by beating Oxford’s No 1 Scott Handley 11-3, 9-11, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9.
Nottingham, who shared second and third places with Oxford for most of the season, face reigning champions Integrity Surrey in the last four.
