Oxford Lions Futsal Club have been crowned Midlands FA League champions following their 12-4 victory over Hereford in a record-breaking season.
Oxford rattled in the goals through Luke Ballinger (3), Lucas Totti (3), Bruno Gibbins (3), Paulo Caetano, Pete Vallance and Emilio Torres.
In so doing, they past the ten they needed to break the four-year-old FA National League record of most goals in a season.
Lions achieved their success with a game to spare – that match will be played against Birmingham Tigers at the Park Sports Centre, Wheatley, on Sunday (2.30pm).
By winning the league, the Lions have qualified for the national grand finals, in which the top six teams in the country go head-to-head at the Sporthouse Arena in Barking, East London, over the weekend of May 12-13, with the eventual winners representing England in the UEFA Futsal Cup.
The game, the only version of five-a side football supported by FIFA, is played with a smaller low-bounce ball.
