Barley Hill School, Thame’s dreams of representing Oxford United at Wembley in the npower Kids Cup were dashed as they bowed out in the southern regional final at the club’s Roman Way training ground.
Goalless draws in their first four games against Hereford, Cheltenham, Aldershot and Barnet left them needing to win their final two games to progress in the six-a-side competition.
But a 1-0 defeat by Plymouth and a 2-1 loss to Swindon, with Sam Tanner scoring their only goal, ended their hopes.
