CHIPPING Norton maintained their promotion hopes with a 64-8 victory at Princes Risborough in the BB&O Premier Division.
Should Chippy claim maximum points from their remaining three matches, starting with Saturday’s home clash with Thatcham, they will finish in the top two.
Matt Dawson (3), Tom Hall (2), Neil Stannard, Richard Flather, Neil Penny, Kieren Phillips-Tebb and Barry Nutt scored tries, Hall converting seven.
Wing Tommy Newell’s four tries proved in vain as Gosford All Blacks lost 34-27 at home to Hungerford.
Gosford, for whom centre Chris Bennett also scored, with Tim Ellis converting, led 17-7 at one stage and looked set for a draw at 27-27, but hooker Chris Woodruffe’s try won it for Hungerford.
Mark Bolton, Woodruffe, John Baskerville and Dominic Taylor had earlier crossed over, Dave Cree kicking three conversions and a penalty Bicester battled hard in a 20-14 defeat at Thatcham, with flanker Sam Barton scoring their first try.
Thatcham’s Matt Billinghurst and Steve Risbridge then traded penalties.
Billinghurst converted a brace of tries from flanker Aaron Butt.
Risbridger kicked two penalties for Bicester, but Billinghurst’s second three-pointer sealed it.
Banbury earned a bonus point in their 32-24 home defeat to Newbold-on-Avon in Midlands 2 West South.
Centre James Heywood grabbed two tries, with centre Adam Walsh and flanker Dan Boys also scoring and scrum half Eddie Phillips converting two.
Harwell are two wins away from securing the BB&O Championship title after seeing off Aldermaston 48-10.
Jamie Cantwell (3), Andy Lee (2), Carl Tappin, Rob Douglas and Joe Pigott scored their tries, with Dave Beaven converting four.
Abingdon won 25-10 in a card-strewn clash at Kingsclere.
Wings Luke Matthews and Dale Cross, plus centre Jim Crossland scored tries, with fly half Mark Roberts kicking ten points.
Abingdon had centre Tim Darby and hooker Ben Caudle sent off, while lock Everton Harris was sin-binned. The hosts received a red card and a yellow.
Paul Costello kicked 13 points as Didcot lost 35-23 to Chesham, with Allan Henderson and Sam Lacy scoring tries.
