Talk about the great escape.
Paul Clarke’s greyhound Slaneyside Kevin will do anything to try and get out.
Already ousted from the wooden kennels and nice vet bedding, which he would demolish in minutes, the more solid concrete and paper bedding, still did not deter him.
There he was, standing at full stretch making a large hole in the kennel ceiling.
Luckily, paddock staff caught him just in time to prevent his escape.
Meanwhile, Clarke is to give up his dual attachment with Hall Green and concentrate solely on Oxford.
l LAURA Buckland, a past winner of kennel hand of the year, has landed the post of assistant trainer to Chipping Norton handler Gilly Hepden.
l OXFORD will stage the usual BAGS meetings on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
l TRAINER Michael Peterson has retired Tic Tac Gold.
Nobody wanted the fawn dog as a youngster, but Peterson persevered and managed to get 22 wins and 14 runners-up spots in 84 races – including a £500 open race victory – out of the November ‘06 whelp.
