CHINNOR saw their 20-match 100 per cent record ended by a shock 22-19 home defeat to Barnstaple.
A late penalty from fly half Josh Squire sealed Barnstaple’s victory, which leaves Chinnor five points behind leaders Bouremouth with a game in hand.
The visitors took the lead on six minutes when No 8 Winston James touched down wing Luke Berry’s kick ahead.
Chinnor prop Joe Pickett was sin-binned for a late tackle, but fly half James Cathcart put them ahead with two penalties.
Cathcart’s cross kick then set up a try for wing Pip Seymour.
Squire slotted a penalty then Barnstaple’s Toby Williamson scored in the corner.
Cathcart’s third penalty made it 14-13 after the break, but Squire replied in kind, although his side had hooker Sam Roberts yellow-carded for persistent off-side.
Chinnor hooker Alan Cawston was driven over to make it 19-16 on the hour mark, but they could not hold on.
Penalties from Squire on 71 and 75 minutes sealed victory, while prop Jordan Patey’s tackle denied Chinnor centre Sam Stoop.
