OXFORD Hawks have done it!
They clinched promotion to Premier Division 1 of the South League with a 3-0 triumph over Maidstone, followed by a 1-0 win at Lewes.
And they still have three fixtures left to put the icing on the cake with the title.
Goals from Joe Brownhill, Adam LePage and Rob Miller were enough to send the Kent side packing.
Lewes proved tougher the next day, as the home side needed victory to keep their own promotion hopes alive.
The only goal came in the first half when Brownhill deflected the ball home from a Jack Biggs pass.
Lewes pressed hard for the equaliser, but Hawks did not concede a single short corner as they held on for the points.
Banbury can still avoid bottom place and automatic relegation from Premier 1 after thrashing Sevenoaks 5-1.
Goals from Simon Boardman, Tim Craven, James Dick, David Hart and Charlie Murphy leaves them a point behind closest rivals Eastbourne.
Oxford can still make the play-offs Regional Division 1 after winning 2-0 away to local rivals Oxford Hawks 2nd.
Dan Bleach and Dan Smyth combined to set up James Neilsen for a far-post tap-in, but keeper Chris Mitty had to be at his best to keep Hawks at bay as they hit back hard.
Hawks had the better of the second half, but it was Oxford who got the clincher with a second from Smyth.
Six points from this weekend’s double header will guarantee Oxford a play-off spot.
Witney lost twice over the weekend to sides in the top three of Regional Division 2. On Saturday, they failed to prevent Aylesbury coming back from 3-0 down to grab a 4-3 win in the dying seconds. Witney’s goals came from Tim Hardy (2) and Jacob Deacon.
The following day, they were outplayed by leaders Staines, going down 5-2. Hardy and Justin Peel were on target.
Bicester saw off north Oxfordshire rivals Banbury 2nd 4-2.
Jonny Reid and Roy Carter netted first-half goals, followed by Harry Gaunt and Reid again after a run from the halfway line.
