Oxford Stadium’s racing office is to review the way prize money is allocated at Sandy Lane following complaints from owners and trainers.

The amount winners receive is dependant on the grade their greyhounds compete in, with all other five runners handed £25.

However, many connections are unhappy with the present arrangement where a greyhound who finishes second gets the same as the hound who comes home last.

Racing manager Gary Baiden said: “We have received an increasing number of enquiries in recent months.

“The consensus is that it is unfair to pay the same to all five positions.

“We are willing to review the situation, but must bear in mind the company policy on payment of prizes.

“The only option is to re-adjust payments within each grade as there can be no increase in prize money overall.”

THE Easter BAGS competition gets under way on Sunday, March 18.

There will be three heats over 250m, three heats over 450m and two heats over 595m, all worth £200 to the winner.

It also happens to be Mother’s Day where a three-course lunch for £23 is on offer with a free gift for every mum.

Their explanations were accepted.

OXFORD will stage an extra race at next Friday’s BAGS meeting following a request from bookmakers.

The 13-race card will run from 11.03am until 2.11pm.

THE litter from Oaks and Trafalgar Cup winner Freedom Emma are something special, according to trainer Richard Yeates.

The four bitches and one dog are now seven weeks old and already look the part.

BOOKMAKERS say the Trafalgar Cup final night saw the best turnover for five years.

A bet of £4,500 to £1,500 lost, as did wagers of £3,000 and £2,000.

That, added to a crowd of more than 1,000 and a very busy Tote, made it a great night for all concerned.
