FULL back Katie Sage’s brace of tries helped Oxford University to a 28-8 victory over Cambridge in the women’s Varsity Match at Iffley Road.
A penalty apiece from Cambridge lock Julie Valade and Oxford fly half Beth O’Brien made it 3-3 at half-time.
O’Brien slotted another penalty after the break, but saw her clearance charged down by Cambridge captain and No 8 Keno Omu, who won the chase to score.
Oxford then rallied with four unanswered tries as replacement wing Lucy Stuchfield and scrum half Jessie-Joy Flowers also crossed over, with O’Brien adding one conversion.
Oxford Panthers lost the second-team match to Cambridge 49-7.
