EDDIE Pepperell was slightly disappointed after coming third in the second event of the Jamega Pro Golf Tour Winter Series at Frilford Heath.

After a good year in 2011 and a promising start to 2012, with a second and a fifth place on the Hi5 Tour in Spain under his belt, Pepperell looks set to further his success this year.

Playing on his home course, he shot a four-under-par 68 to finish a shot behind joint winners Tom Haylock, from Red Golf Management, and Ryan Brown, from Worksop.

After his round, Pepperell said: “Once the fog lifted, there were perfect conditions, with no wind whatsoever.

“Four under par is a good score on any course, but as I know this one so well, there is a hint of disappointment and frustration that I didn’t pull in a few more birdies to end up with a 66 or 65.”

Frilford’s assistant pro, Sean Elliot, also had a good day, finishing just inside the top ten with a round of 70.

“I was quite happy,” said Elliott, who turned pro this year.

“I got off to a good start, with a little hiccup on the fifth, but was happy to finish two under.”
