CHINNOR’S title hopes received a double boost following their 60-15 victory at Amersham & Chiltern and Bournemouth’s defeat to Redingensians.

They now trail Bournemouth by one point with a game in hand.

Chinnor never fired on all cylinders, but still bagged eight tries, with wing Tristan Corpe running in a hat-trick.

Fly half James Cathcart kicked Chinnor ahead with a penalty, then No 8 Liam Gilbert cantered in.

Centre Matt Goode crossed over and Cathcart converted.

Amersham’s pressure was rewarded with a try and conversion from fly half Tom Smalley, but Goode’s second, converted by Cathcart, made it 22-7 at the break.

Smalley slotted a drop-goal, but prop Joe Pickett took flanker Nick Harrison’s off-load for try No 4, Cathcart converting.

Chinnor centre Sam Stoop was yellow-carded, while James Hogan’s try reduced the deficit.

Gilbert bagged his second from a pushover try, Cathcart converting.

Chinnor cut loose in the final quarter. Corpe scored three tries, Cathcart converting each one.

Oxford Harlequins, who had Sione Vaiom’ounga sent off, boosted their survival hopes by beating Weston-super-Mare 25-17.

Flanker Vaiom’ounga scored the hosts’ opening try on nine minutes, fly half Matt Smith converting.

Two minutes later, scrum half Jack Cosins darted through a gap for a try, Smith again converting.

On 15 minutes, Quins centre Martin Nutt ran in a 40-metre try.

Weston No 8 Graham Sparks squeezed over on 37 minutes.

Vaiom’ounga was yellow-carded for a dangerous tackle on 43 minutes, but Smith slotted a penalty after Weston hooker Craig Withers was sin-binned.

Viamounga received his second yellow card on 66 minutes for handling in a ruck. Weston flanker Joe Rudkin scored two minutes later, George Kimmins converting.

Smith kicked a penalty, while Weston centre Jon Gallagher scored late on.
