FA Trophy: Oxford City boss Andy Lyne has expressed his anger at the three-match ban handed to striker Ray Spence for his sending off at Bishop's Cleeve.
Spence was sent off for violent conduct during last Saturday's 3-1 FA Cup exit, a decision which incensed Lyne.
"It was just so wrong," said Lyne, who has been in football management for 25 years.
"The linesman called the referee over and told him that Ray had elbowed one of their players. But the lad who he was supposed to have elbowed told the referee that no contact was made.
"Ray's been given an unfair reputation. He's not an angel, he has done some silly things. But I think this time he was more sinned against than sinner.
"When it happened I didn't know what to say - it was just so outrageous. We were shell-shocked.
"They might have beaten us anyway. But it's just the principle of the thing.
"I have been doing this job a long time and it really made me question why I wanted to be involved in a game where something so unjust can happen.
"I never once thought about quitting - if I had walked away, it would have been letting the club and the players down."
Lyne added: "We spoke to the FA and they said we could only appeal if we had video evidence, which of course we don't have."
Spence's ban starts on October 14, meaning the striker who scored twice in their midweek win against Burnham, can play in tomorrow's preliminary round against Southern League Division 1 South & West rivals Bashley.
Andy Marriott is out with an ankle injury.
Meanwhile, Abingdon United will be without the injured Nathan Woodley and Andy Ballard (suspended) when they travel to Midland Division Bromsgrove Rovers.
Manager Andy Slater said: "It's going to be tough. They are top and their fans are very vocal so it will very intimidating. But I am sure we will be able to cope."
