Thatcham Tn 1
(Johnson 66)
Abingdon Utd 0
Abingdon United are still seeking their first win of 2012 in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West after losing a game they should have won easily.
They were beaten by Thatcham’s only shot on target when Jemel Johnson latched on to a pass and raced clear after Abingdon had given the ball away to slide the winner past James Foster after 66 minutes.
The visitors had dominated up to then with Luke Carnell having an early header tipped over by Paul Strudley.
Aaron Parfitt and Stuart Young both went close for Abingdon, before Sam Collier was denied by an acrobatic Strudley save.
After Johnson put Thatcham ahead, he had the chance to kill Abingdon off, but failed to take advantage of another one-on-one with Foster.
Abingdon Utd: Foster, Smith (Doyle 80), Angell, Allaway, Carnell, Parfitt (Seaward 50), Kingsbeer, Biddle, Collier, Packer, Young (Christodolou 75). Sub not used: Buck.
Attendance: 87.
