Arlesey Tn 2
(Cole 32, Marsh 45+3)
Banbury Utd 1
(Angus 69)
Banbury United suffered a double injury blow as they slipped to defeat against a poor Arlesey Town side in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division at the Armadillo Stadium.
Danny Edmond sustained a badly sprained ankle, while Liam Dolman picked up a calf strain.
Shortly after Dolman left the field, Arlesey took the lead in the 32nd minute.
Ex-Banbury defender Stefan Bailey broke down the right and squared the ball to former Oxford United win-ger Mitchell Cole, who fired past the unsighted Andy Kemp.
Three minutes into first-half injury time, Arlesey struck again through Chris Marsh’s fierce shot.
The second half became a physical encounter, and after not having shown any yellow cards in the first half, the referee handed out seven.
Edmond’s injury, which came soon after the break, wasn’t the result of foul play, but from an awkward fall.
Banbury pulled a goal back in the 69th minute when Dior Angus guided the ball over keeper Nick Bussey, but they couldn’t equalise.
Banbury Utd: Kemp, Coleman, Polk, Dolman (Chilton 28), Thackeray, Emery, Edmond (Angus 61), Cole, Johnson, Blake, Howell. Subs not used: Richardson, Kinch.
Attendance: 143.
