Oxford City had to cope with an icy blast as they gained a draw away to fellow Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division play-off contenders Leamington on Saturday.
City must have been confident at half-time, having taken the lead while playing against the wind, but the hosts equalised after the break.
Mike Ford’s men defended well against the elements early on, limiting Leamington to few chances.
Luke Corbett was well wide with his free-kick before Richard Batchelor’s soft shot was easily collected by City keeper Jason Mooney.
On the stroke of half-time, the visitors took the lead when Pablo Haysham’s shot took a deflection and looped over a stranded Nathan Vaughan in the Leamington goal.
In the second half, the wind continued to dictate the play.
Mooney made an important stop from Batchelor, but in the 65th minute the Brakes equalised.
Stephan Morley found the net with a direct 20-yard str-ike from a free-kick.
Haysham’s neat footwork set up a chance for City, but his effort was tipped over by Vaughan.
City had to accept the point that keeps them in the play-off places.
Oxford City: Mooney, Clarke, Learoyd, Ballard, Fleet, Willmott, Malone, Benjamin, Taylor (Bell 68) Haysham, Martin. Subs not used: Blossom, McEa-chran. Attendance: 552.
