Headington Amateurs were rueing a missed penalty as they were held to a goalless draw at home to Malmesbury Victoria in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West.
Ollie Zaja’s run in to the penalty area saw him upended as he was about to shoot in the 48th minute, but the same player’s spot-kick was comfortably saved by Anthony Brown At the other end, Benji Cuff had to clear off the goal-line following a Malmesbury corner.
Brown distinguished himself with a double save from Headington’s Liam Morbey.
Clanfield came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at home to Lydney Town.
Playing into a strong wind, Clanfield conceded two goals from Dan Clarke.
Clanfield pulled a goal back five minutes into the second half when Steve Olpherts pin-point corner was lashed home from close range by skipper Jamie Butt.
Good work by Adam Webb set up Adam Little to equalise from 25 yards in the 65th minute.
Letcombe lost 3-1 at home to promotion-chasing Newbury in Division 1 East Goals from Marc Piper and Rob Panting in the 33rd and 40th minutes put Newbury 2-0 ahead, but Paul Jezzard pulled one back for Letcombe right on half-time.
Letcombe keeper Craig Payne made some fine saves in the second half, but was beaten again by Piper’s second two minutes from time.
