John Carter last night became the first Oxford University captain to be elected for a second campaign in 42 years.
The 30-year-old back-row forward led the Dark Blues to a 28-10 victory against Cambridge University at Twickenham in December.
He will now look to steer Oxford to a Varsity Match hat-trick after becoming the first skipper since Bob Phillips in 1968 to be chosen for a second year of office.
