Tme upset the odds with a thrilling 4-2 victory over fancied Ashton in the second round of the Gentworks Oxford & District League’s Atox Cup.
The key man for Thame was the much-improved Brendon Ensoll (+20), who won both his frames against Terry Chambers (scratch) 75-61, 75-41.
However, they owed their success to an all-round display, with all their players producing victories.
Pete Fenn (+20) took the first game for Ashton, winning 75-54 against Peter Hawkes (+35).
Hawkes later reversed the result, winning 75-48 in game four.
Thame’s Tom Fletcher, won 75-54 in the first frame against Callum Vinall, who later got his revenge with a 75-39 success in the fifth frame.
Cowley Conservative Club A lost 4-1 to Littlemore RBL.
Dick Hashman, of Cowley, shared his frames with Matthew Challen 49-75,75-66. But after that Littlemore ran riot.
Jason Buck, now playing off scratch, showed his sharpness by narrowly beating Arthur Coakley (+35) 75-67, 75-64.
Adam Brown (scratch) needed to play only one frame, winning 75-59 against Keith Pearce to clinch the match for Littlemore.
