JIM Smith admitted his high-flying Oxford United side look to be in complete control of their own destiny after pulling further away at the top of the Nationwide Conference.
Saturday's 2-0 home win over York City stretched their lead at the summit to eight points with more than a quarter of the season now gone.
Smith was delighted with the performance, and the quality of football - much of it instigated by the brilliance of midfielder Andy Burgess.
The U's boss said: "We're in the driving seat and we've got to keep the level of performance that we did today which will, I'm sure, keep us in the driving seat.
"I'm not really concerned about the points difference, it's all about us."
He added: "It was probably the best football we have played since I've been here.
"York did really well in the first half, without really threatening.
"We got a really good goal, as we're capable of, and in the second half, if anything was disappointing, it was that we probably should have scored more goals.
"We've always played good football in spells, but we did it in long spells today. We controlled and passed it well, moved the ball about well, and obviously the fans appreciate that."
Fans are starting to be concerned that Burgess is looking so special, he'll be snapped up by a bigger club, and indeed, there were quite a few scouts watching him on Saturday.
"I think the chairman would be happy if he got a million pounds," Smith laughed.
"Andy's a very talented player, there's no doubt about it. Sometimes he doesn't perform as well as he can and is a little bit inconsistent.
But this year, particularly, I think he's been a major influence on our team because he can do things that other players can't do at this level."
