Aldershot 0, Oxford Utd 3 (Pittman 8, Duberry 37, Leven 45+2) A sensational first-half display from Oxford United saw them record a valuable three points at Aldershot today which moved them into the League Two play-off positions.

Strikes from Jon-Paul Pittman, Michael Duberry and Peter Leven put Chris Wilder's side 3-0 ahead at half-time.

And while the U's could not add to their tally after the break, they did what they had to do and comfortably saw out the game.

Pittman, handed a first league start of the season after his goal against Crawley on Monday, nodded the U's into a seventh-minute lead.

Peter Leven showed sensational technique to fire a cross in and Pittman raced in front of his man to head home.

Duberry scored his second goal for the club on 37 minutes, although there looked a touch of fortune about it.

Aldershot keeper Ross Worner produced a brilliant fingertip to save to keep out Simon Heslop's drive.

But from the resulting corner, Leven's flag-kick was met by Pittman, and his header hit a defender, rebound back, struck Duberry and went into the net.

The U's were rampant, and from a great flick by Alfie Potter, James Constable's left-foot shot was again well saved by Worner's fingertips.

The duo combined minutes later in another flowing Oxford move, but this time Constable's left-foot shot was off target.

But Leven showed how it was done in first-half stoppage time.

Pittman held the ball up well, and he picked out Leven's fine run, and the Scottish midfielder drilled into the bottom corner.

The second half saw United produce a professional performance, stifling the home side's attacks and again looking lively when going forward.

Deane Smalley almost scored a lucky fourth just seconds after coming on, Anthony Straker clearing the ball against the Oxford striker, and it then rebounding off the underside of the bar.

Hylton's long-range effort was easily saved by Clarke as time ran out, United's keeper then saving well from substitute Jermaine McGlashan.

But this was a mightily impressive display from the U's.
