DIDCOT’S Martin Green defied injury to win the Commonwealth Benchpress Championships in Bournemouth.
The 37-year old claimed the gold medal in the 105kg bodyweight class – he weighed in at 102kg – with a lift of 220kg.
This is way down on his personal best of 250kg – the exisiting Brit-ish record.
But this was not surprising as Green (pictured) is still recovering from snapped shoulder tendons which he suffered in the English Championships six weeks ago.
His next competition is the British Championships in February.
