Mick Channon's West Ilsley string continue to be in fine form - with Youmzain gaining the biggest success of his career in the Group One IVG Preis von Europa at Cologne on Sunday.

The three-year-old benefited from a vintage Kieren Fallon ride to get the better of Egerton close home, with fellow British raider Enforcer claiming third.

Fallon had settled his mount towards the rear of the seven-runner field before asking the colt for maximum effort as the field quickened for home.

Once hitting top gear, Youmzain ran on willingly to assume command inside the final furlong and claim his first success at the highest level.

"I was following the right horses and the rest was an easy job," explained a delighted Fallon.

Hughie Morrison, who trains just a few miles from Channon in East Ilsley, also enjoyed big-race success.

On the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II card at Ascot, Morrison's Supaseus got the meeting off to a cracking start with an eye-catching success in the Space Property Handicap over the straight mile.

Sent off at 11-2, the three-year-old, who has been recently gelded, was driven clear at the two-furlong marker by John Egan, and held on well to record a two-length win over South Cape - trained by Channon.

Morrison has always thought a lot of his charge.

"We nearly ran him in the 2,000 Guineas after he won his first race," he said.

"He has got a huge amount of ability, but it's whether he bothers to use it."

Fulke Johnson Houghton, in his last season as a trainer, made the long trip to Chester pay off as Phluke landed the Innospec Handicap over seven furlongs.

Stephen Carson sent the five-year-old into the lead from the stalls and never saw another rival as he beat the fast-finishing Dhaular Dhar by a neck.

Childrey jockey Mick Fitzgerald may have announced that he will retire at the end of the season, but showed he has lost none of his drive with victory aboard the Nicky Henderson-trained Astyanax in the wbx.com World Bet Exchange Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon.

Fitzgerald had to be at his best to drive the six-year-old home.

Henderson completed a quickfire double when Marcus Foley, who lives at Faringdon, got Terramarique's nose in front on the line to win the wbx.com World Bet Exchange Handicap Chase.

And on the same card, Charlie Morlock, who trains at Kingston Lisle saw Sundawn Lady run out a narrow winner of the TNS Toyota Handicap Hurdle.

Gerard Tumelty, who rode his first winner as a professional for Morlock earlier this month, doubled his tally when getting the mare home in the three mile two furlong marathon.
