Oxford City's under 15 girls produced a superb performance to grab an unexpected silver medal in the South of England Road relays at the Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot on Sunday.
Running in their first year at this age group, the trio of Melissa Hawtin, Amy Chivers and Danielle Anderson came home 38 seconds behind hosts Aldershot, Farnham & District to take the silver.
Hawtin led the team off, completing the three kilometre course in 10mins 40secs.
Taking the second leg, Chivers clocked 11.56, with Anderson running the anchor in 11.44 - to bring City home three seconds in front of Bedford & County.
Hawtin's superb time was rewarded with the gold medal for the fastest individual lap of the day.
Earlier in the day, City's under 13s finished a creditable 13th.
Melissa's younger sister, Lauren, clocked 8.47 in the first leg of the 2.3km course, before handing over to Jade Walker, who ran 9.21.
Jessica Anstice brought the team home, clocking 9.35 on the anchor leg.
Last to run for City were the senior women's team of Hayley Chaundy, Claire Thompson, Rebecca Bolton and Livvy Napier.
They finished in 43rd position in their first road relay event.
* Oxford City's vet 60 men's team retained their relay title title, beating nearest rivals Thames Hare & Hounds by over four minutes.
City's anchor Gareth Jones won gold for the fastest vet 60 time of the day.
In the vet 50 event, City won bronze.
