North Oxford, already Division 1 champions in the 3-Pair League, were whitewashed by Cholsey.
North fielded just two pairs - and four juniors at that - and were no match for Cholsey, who dropped just 25 games in the 12 sets.
North's B side, however, received a massive boost in their bid to beat relegation when they beat fellow strugglers Witney.
North have now won their last two matches, and a draw in their final game of the season would now see them safe.
In Ladies Division 1, Oxford City took another step towards the title - but were fortunate to do so.
City could field only two pairs in their match with Bicester, but avoided handing their opponents a 3-0 advantage because they too could not put a full side out.
City ran out winners, and know that a draw in their final match would clinch the title.
