Oxford City boss Mike Ford has saluted the courage of his side in reached the first round of the FA Cup with a 3-2 win at Blue Square South outfit Weston-super-Mare.
“We had to dig deep second half because they really put us under a lot of pressure,” said Ford.
“When you come away against a club from a higher division, you’re not going to have it all your own way. We showed a great deal of courage and spirit.
Ford singled out keeper Jason Mooney for praise.
He said: “Jason’s made an unbelievable save at the end. He was outstanding.
“They had a lot of corners and free-kicks, but he was equal to it.
“By the end, they’d almost run out of ideas, and at the end, Jason’s made a great save.
Meanwhile, City travel to Abingdon United in the Red Insure Cup tonight.
Ford added: “It’s a chance for those who didn’t play Saturday the opportunity to get into my team against Redbridge.
“We have got a game tonight, another one on Saturday, and next Tuesday so anything could happen with injuries.
“And the players have to be saying to themselves that if it does happen I’m here and waiting to play.”
