Chris Wilder is looking to dip into the loan market once again after Andy Haworth was ruled out for a month with a new ankle injury.
The Bury winger has started the last two games for Oxford United after recovering from a previous ankle injury.
The U’s last week extended his spell at the club for another month, but Haworth was caught by a tackle at Macclesfield last week, and scan results show that it is not good news.
Boss Wilder explained: “Andy’s scan results have come back, and it’s a fresh injury and he is out for a month.
“It’s a disappointing one because it’s been a bit stop-start for Andy, but I thought he was showing glimpses of what he could do of late.
“That means that we are down to 17 fit players – and that includes two goalkeepers.
“We are thinking of bringing someone in because we have a hard month ahead with matches against some very good teams – and a lot of games too.
“Fingers crossed we can do something, because we are light on bodies at the moment.”
