Oxford City boss Mike Ford could give former Oxford United youngster Conor McDonagh the chance to shine at home to Mangotsfield in the first qualifying round on Saturday.

McDonagh, who was released by the U’s in the summer, scored a five-timer for Oxford City Nomads in Wednesday’s 10-0 thrashing of Bracknell in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Jemaine Ferriera (2), James Dobson, Jon Gardner and Ben Moses completed the rout.

And Ford said McDonagh could play a part in the game.

“Conor has every chance,” said Ford. “He is definitely in the squad.

“We play Weymouth on Tuesday which is a very big games and then Weston-super-Mare in the Cup next weekend.

“The next eight days is an important period, so we need to keep the momentum going.”

Ford said his side were not taking victory for granted.

He added: “Mangotsfield beat us last year in the FA Cup first-qualifying round and we had the experience of beating Didcot after a replay.

“So the players are aware that these games can be extremely difficult.

“I’m not weakening the team, because whoever plays gets the oppportunity to be in the side for Tuesday.”

City will be without Andy Ballard (ankle injury) and Marvin Martin (knee), though Jamie Heapy returns after being cup-tied for Eastleigh.

Jason Mooney fights it out with Mark Scott for the keeper’s jersey.

Banbury United manager Ady Fuller could be without four players for the trip to Leighton Town.

Liam Dolman (broken foot) is out, while Nick Kingston (swollen foot) and Ben Polk (knee) face fitness tests and Steffan Bailey is unavailable.

Fuller, whose side beat Leighton’s Central Division rivals Rugby Town 3-1 in the Birmingham Senior Cup first-round, said it had restored confidence.

He added: “It’s definitely done that. I thought a 1-1 draw was a fair result (at Chippenham) because not many teams go there and get anything.

“We played ever so well against Rugby – we could have had six or seven.

“Leighton is a tough place to go because they have a very small pitch, so we have to be professional when we go there and do the job.”
