Rob Hall has scored four goals in seven appearances for Oxford United – but it’s still not good enough for his dad.

The on-loan West Ham striker was the hero with a 93rd-minute equaliser at Macclesfield on Saturday to salvage a 1-1 draw.

That meant that Hall has scored an impressive four times in five away games for United, but is yet to find the net in two games at the Kassam Stadium.

However, Hall, who turns 18 today, revealed to the Oxford Mail that while his goals-to- game ratio is excellent, it’s not up to the standard set by his dad, Dennis, himself a footballer who played for Thame United and Aylesbury.

When asked if he came to Oxford with a goals target in mind, Hall replied: “I didn’t personally, but my dad told me he wanted me to get a goal a game.

“So although it’s going well here at the moment, it needs to be even better for him!

“My dad has always really helped me and has been a big influence. He is always pushing me to be even better.

“And that’s a good thing. I agree with him as well because if I play a game and have not scored a goal then it doesn’t feel that I have done my job.

“So that’s my target – to score in every game I play.”

Hall’s next target is to make sure that he gets off the mark in front of Oxford’s home fans.

But he has not got any pre-planned celebrations if he does.

“It’s great to score and there is always a lot of our supporters at the away games,” he said.

“However, I am desperate to score at home as well.

“The atmosphere at home games is just so good with all the fans that are there and I want to get a goal there.

“I don’t know what I would do if I scored at home – the emotion of scoring just takes over, so I won’t plan a certain celebration because I will probably just end up running around.”
