JASON Bowers has praised the efforts of his backs coaches which have helped Chinnor score 37 tries in seven matches.

Head coach Bowers, whose side ran in ten tries in Saturday’s National 3 South West derby rout of Oxford Harlequins, said Chinnor are now a force to be reckoned with.

“We have done a lot of work on how to be creative as a backline,” said Bowers.

“Richard Williams and Matt Goode, our backs coaches, have put in lots of effort to do that.

“When you get backs coming on to the ball at pace, it was only a matter of time before we clicked.

“For a long time, we always had the better pack and Quins had the stronger back line.

“But this year our back line is doing the business as well.”

Among those impressing for Chinnor is former Oxford Harlequins man Frank Jones, who has slotted in well at scrum half.

Meanwhile, Quins director of rugby John Brodley says they now face a key time of their season.

Quins face Old Patesians on Saturday, followed by Weston-super-Mare, Old Redcliffians and Exmouth.

Brodley said: “We have got a period of matches against mid-table sides, which we really have to do something against.”
