Controversy surrounded Oxford Hawks’ 3-3 draw at Tulse Hill & Dulwich in South League Premier Division 2.

The match was all-square with two minutes to go when Ted Bennett picked the ball up on the top of the D, and was just about to shoot when he was knocked down by a Tulse Hill defender.

A penalty flick was awarded and the defender sent off, but after a discussion between the two umpires the decision was downgraded to a penalty corner as it was deemed Bennett was not in a goalscoring position.

Hawks failed to score and the match ended as a draw.

It capped a frustrating day for Hawks, who had arrived early only for the start to be delayed an hour due to an injury to the Tulse Hill goalkeeper in the previous game.

When the game got under way, Hawks started strongly and opened the scoring when Sam Chilvers picked the ball up in the D and reverse-flicked it under the keeper.

But Tulse Hill then struck twice to lead at half-time.

Hawks levelled when Bennett slotted home a rebound after Rob Miller hit a post.

Tulse Hill regained the lead, but Sean Duval hauled Hawks level once again, before the match came to a controversial conclusion.

George Brooker’s brace gave Banbury a 3-2 home win over Chichester in Premier Division 1.

Royden Burt also netted.

Dan Bleach hit a hat-trick as Oxford crushed Wycombe 2nd 6-0 at home to maintain their unbeaten record in Regional Division 1. Bleach opened the scoring, before Dan Smyth bagged a brace with two well-placed shots from the top of the D.

Bleach got his second when he picked up a rebound from the keeper.

Oxford made it 5-0 at half-time with Nick Greenwood netting his first goal for the club.

Bleach completed his trio in the second half to seal victory.

Simon Buckingham grabbed a late winner as Oxford Hawks 2nd came from behind to beat Sonning 2-1.

The visitors had opened the scoring in the second half, but Dave McNee equalised with a penalty stroke.

Witney went top of Regional Division 2 with a 5-0 home win over South Bucks.

Oxford 2nd lost 2-0 to Aylesbury at RAF Halton.

Ben White went close for Oxford, before Aylesbury scored twice late on.
