Chinnor head coach Jason Bowers was in buoyant mood after routing Oxford Harlequins 66-3.

Bowers said: “I was over the moon with the way we played.

“To get a big win was great, but we would have taken any win.

“Perhaps we should have had two or three more scores in the first half.

“We got on top and carried it on from the first half.

“They had parity with us for periods up front. Their scrum was solid and so was their line-out.

“But in the backs, we had the ability to open them up when we wanted.

“I thought James Cathcart was absolutely outstanding. His cross-field kick for Seymour’s first try was one of the best pieces of skill I have seen for a long time.”

Quins’ director of rugby John Brodley admitted the match had been difficult to watch from the touchline.

Brodley said: “I thought our forwards were superb. There was nothing to choose between the two packs.

“If anything, we showed that we had a good platform to play from.

“Our forwards deserved a bit more from the game than they got.”

“The difference was their midfield attacking compared to our midfield defending.

“We were totally and utterly outplayed there.

“They made far too many easy breaks, which put us on the back foot.

“The lesson to learn for us is that we have got to make our one on one tackles. We have got to take responsibility for that.”
