Andy Cook, who helped Wallingford A gain promotion to Division 3 of the Didcot and District League last season, played against them in the opening match of the new campaign.
Now skippering Moreton D, Cook led his new side to a 6-4 victory over his former teammates.
Wallingford captain Tony Quinn was too good for Nick Redding in the opening leg, but Cook squared the tie beating Mark Dunbar 11-7, 2-11, 12-10, 11-9, although winning fewer points than his opponent.
Tak-Wa Yau and Redding won the next two singles to give Moreton a 3-1 advantage Quinn pulled one back, but Moreton established a 6-2 winning lead by taking the next three singles.
In this sequence, Dunbar repeated his trick of losing although winning more points, this time against Yau who recovered from a 2-0 games deficit to win in five.
Quinn duly completed a maximum and won the doubles, partnered by with Dunbar.
