Oxford City Stars’ new import Cameron Birrell makes his eagerly-awaited debut in their English National League South Division 1 match at home to second-placed Chelmsford Chieftains tomorrow (6pm).
It had been hoped that the South African would play in the double-header against Cardiff Devils and Slough Jets last weekend.
But his registration did not come through in time, as Stars suffered the disappointment of drawing games they looked like winning, after conceding late goals.
Coach Ken Foreshee steps down as player to make room for Birrell, who, it is expected, will bring speed and goal scoring opportunities to the team.
Foreshee said : “This will be a good test, playing against one of the top teams in our league.
“I think our play has been very good lately and hopefully this will continue.”
Because of some injury doubts, Forshee is delaying naming his squad until after fitness tests tomorrow.
