Chipping Norton’s Alice Powell admitted to being disappointed with her results in the penultimate rounds of the Formula Renault UK Championship at Brands Hatch.
Driving for the Manor Competition team, the 18-year-old finished ninth and eighth in the two races at the Kent circuit after struggling in qualifying.
Oliver Rowland grabbed a brace of first places.
It saw Powell drop a place in the standings to seventh, with Alex Lynn still leading the way.
Powell, who was only able to take part in the last two rounds thanks to sponsorship from a motorsport fan, said: “I am disappointed with the way the weekend went.
“I was hoping for much better results, but the positives are that we showed in the last race that we had the pace, and also that we can start well.”
Powell managed to post only the 12th and tenth fastest qualifying times.
“I pushed to early on my tyres in the first qualifying and just tried too hard in the second one,” she added.
“It is a lesson learnt that I just need to chill out more.”
The final two races of the season are at Silverstone next weekend.
