WITNEY’S Will Macke was part of a junior team who secured an impressive ninth-place at the British National Track Championships in Manchester.
Competing against senior riders, Macke and his AWcycles.co.uk outfit, all aged 17, made the top ten in the team pursuit event.
He teamed up with Cam Swarbrick, Stephen Bradbury and Frazier Carr, from Reading, while Benson’s Harry Studley completed the squad.
They twice broke their personal best over the 4km course, with 4mins 36.583secs the quickest they registered, averaging over 32mph.
James Thompson, AW Cycles racing manager, said: “Having launched our first junior team less than a year ago, we are delighted with their development.
“They are dedicated youngsters and it’s great to see them competing at such a high level.”
Meanwhile, Didcot cyclist John Paul helped City of Edinburgh RC win the minor final in the team sprint event, clocking 47.143secs.
