Oxford City Stars suffered double heartache with both Cardiff Devils and Slough Jets scoring in the dying seconds to snatch draws in their South Division 1 games.
A late leveller saw Stars held to a 2-2 draw at Cardiff on Saturday, before Slough struck at the death 24 hours later as the home clash ended 4-4.
A Dale White slapshot that deflected off the netminder, and into the bottom corner gave Stars the lead in south Wales.
It wasn’t until the third period that Cardiff equalised, but Dax Hedges restored Oxford’s lead with only three minutes to go.
However, a superb team goal from the Devils levelled it up with 85 seconds left.
Stars also took the lead against promoted Slough at Oxford Ice Rink, with Andy Cox on target, but Jets then raced into a 3-1 lead.
After the third goal, Stars head coach Ken Forshee called a timeout which did wonders for the home side.
Forshee led the fightback by reducing the deficit, before Darren Endicote got his first of the campaign to make it 3-3.
White scored his second goal of the weekend to put Stars ahead in the third period, but Slough equalised in the final second of the game.
