CHINNOR are set to get even stronger as their National 3 South West promotion push gathers pace.
That is the view of head coach Jason Bowers, who is delighted with their 100 per cent start to the season.
“Five out of five,” said Bowers. “You can’t ask for anything more than that.
“I think we have played quite well, but each week there have been areas to work on.
“If we get the game plan right each week and resolve a couple of areas of selection, I think we will be even stronger than we are now.
“We are looking forward to a challenging October.”
The rest of the month sees trips to Weston-super-Mare and Exmouth, plus home games against Oxford Harlequins and Amersham & Chiltern.
One surprise package this season has been former Oxford Harlequins fly half Frank Jones, who has been quietly impressive at scrum half.
Bowers said: “Frank Jones found himself at nine due to injury, but he is now there on merit because he has played well.”
Reflecting further on Chinnor’s strengths, Bowers added: “Liam Gilbert is proving himself to be a great footballer, while the whole front five are really gelling well.”
